Reeva Steenkamp will make her South African television debut on Saturday in Tropika Island of Treasure 5 set in Jamaica.
SABC1 isn't showing sensitivity in regard to the actual broadcast. SABC1 has refused to shelve or at least postpone the advertiser-funded show (AFP) created and executive produced by Samantha Moon's Stimulii following the violent death of Reeva Steenkamp to at least until after a funeral or some kind of memorial service.
The first episode of Tropika Island of Treasure 5 will go out on Saturday at 18:30 on SABC1 showing South African viewers a person shot dead with a gun and whose boyfriend, Oscar Pistorius, is being investigated for murder by the police with the police which also stated that they will oppose Oscar Pistorius' bail application on Friday.
"The last time I saw her was last week - in fact last Thursday when we screened the first episode to the media. She was certainly excited about her relationship [with Oscar Pistorius who shot her in the head this morning at his house] and certainly excited. She just chose to keep it private," Samantha Moon told the eNCA.
"The loss of this amazing woman is tragic - and in such a shocking and unexpected way is not the way anyone expects to start their morning. I can only imagine what her family is going through."
In a written press statement Samantha Moon says Tropika Island of Treasure 5 on SABC1 must go on, saying that it would be an "injustice" for people who didn't know her personally not to see Reeva Steenkamp because of her qualities as a woman, such as her beauty and intelligence.
Samantha Moon says in the statement it "has taken much deliberation to come to the decision to continue screening Tropika Island of Treasure 5 as planned".
"Every episode that she is in, every frame that she so ably dominates - shines with her light and her laughter echoes in every conversation, and we want to share these special memories with the rest of South Africa."
The advertiser-funded production with Tropika moved from e.tv to SABC1 for this season.
Meanwhile, contrary to the SABC and Stimulii, M-Net and DStv have pulled all Oscar Pistorius' on-air ads and promos and even instructed to have all billboards removed as soon as possible for their "28 Days of Oscars" marketing campaign which featured the athlete "out of respect for the bereaved".
The news has been making major news headlines and rolling coverage on several 24-hour TV news channels since early on Thursday morning, including South Africa's eNCA.
