What does Come Dine with Me SA, Carte Blanche, Top Billing, News Day and Late Nite with Loyiso Gola all have in common?

In April the editor of the monthly trade magazine The Media asked me if I could write an article for the May edition on the complexities of local television and the problematics around it within South Africa's TV industry.

With the June issue out now, the article from the May issue has now been posted at The Media's online site and which you can read now if you're not subscribed to the magazine.

An academic who is a TV expert, a longtime producer of quality local TV content, a TV channel head whose channel specialises in giving viewers local content, and a longtime and esteemed South African TV critic all shared with me their insights.

You can see what they all have to say on the various issues surrounding the challenges  facing local TV content in South Africa and making (good!) local TV content.
