BREAKING. Fantasy series Game of Thrones on M-Net renewed for a third season for 2013.
Games of Thrones, the second season of the fantasy TV series which just started in South Africa, has just been renewed for a third season in America on HBO.
It means that viewers will see at least half of the third book, A Storm of Swords, on television in 2013 (according to the creators the book is too dense to fit into 10 episodes).
No order size in terms of number of episodes have been announced for the show that's based on the book series by George R.R. Martin and could be more, episodes, but will likely again be 10 episodes since the creators have said that doing more than 10 episodes per season could affect the quality and budget.
"Series creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss raised our expectations for the second season – and then surpassed them,” said HBO's programming president Michael Lombardo in a press statement. "We are thrilled by all the viewer and media support we've received for the series and can't wait to see what Dan and David have in store for next season."
Game of Thrones is filmed entirely overseas, mostly in Northern Ireland. After its first season Game of Thrones earned 13 Emmy nominations and won two, and also snagged two Golden Globe nominations.
