TOLDJA! The Edition with presenter Vuzi Zion starting on the eNews Channel; trendy magazine show will look at popular culture.
I broke the news exclusively RIGHT HERE last month thata new weekly show entitled The Edition is coming to the eNews Channel (DStv 403) from tonight, 8 February, - today after I asked around again yesterday, e.tv send me a press release that The Edition is starting tonight at 21:30, exactly as I said would happen.
The new show in 13 episodes is positioned as a trendy magazine show that will be looking at ''prevalent memes in popular culture'' (if you don't know what a meme is, watch Generations) as well as local and international buzzy trends in business, the media and South Africa's creative culture.
The Edition is fronted by Vuzi Zion (formerly Vusi Twala) (remember TV1's Tele 6? remember SABC1 continuity presenters?). The Edition looks set to be a hipper, hotter, edgier, preppier and younger version of the eNews Channel's Maggs on Media. The Edition is produced by Engage Entertainment.
''The Edition is a novel show that sits somewhere between the traditional news bulletin and expose,'' says Jane Acutt, content producer at Engage Entertainment.
''Viewers will be able to learn in-depth about current trends. Watching the The Edition should be a similar experience to a leisurely read through the in-depth articles you would find in the Sunday papers. Viewers should walk away from an episode with a better understanding of the topic and with a burning desire to find the answers to the questions raised during the show.''
The producers say The Edition is aimed at ''the inquisitive viewer with an insatiable appetite for thought-provoking content'' and that the 13 episode first season will serve up stories and inserts in ''a visceral and visual style.''
The Edition will be on on Wednesdays at 21:30, with repeats on the eNews Channel on Thursdays (11:20), Fridays (10:30), Saturdays (09:30 and 15:30), Sundays (11:30) and Mondays (11:30).
