Programming note: London Calling on BBC World News kicking off the Beep's 2012 Olympic Games coverage with multiple insightful shows.


London Calling is the thematic name for the coverage that the BBC World News (DStv 400 / TopTV 400) has given to the news channel's year-long celebration of the best of Britain and which is encompassing insightful documentaries, feature stories and specially commissioned programmes all focusing on London and the 2012 Olympic Games.

World Olympic Dreams on BBC World News follows 26 athletes from around the world determined to play their part in the Olympic opening ceremony.

In Destination London on 28 and 29 January, the BBC's Karthi Gnanasegaram presents the first in a series of monthly looks at the main contenders for gold medals as they train and compete in the run-up to London's Olympic Games.

Mixed Britannia which started this month is a range of fascinating documentaries looking at Britain's untold history of mixed-race communities as well as the many love stories inside those communities.

Working Lives on 21 and 22 January meets with 6 Londoners working at different levels of the economic ladder and talks to them about their work, hopes, fears and frustrations.

One Square Mile: Stratford on 21 and 22 January will be lifting the lid on the neighbourhood of Stratford. Once a run-down suburb to the east of London, Stratford is now the gateway to the Olympics in 2012.
