South African filmmakers can enter the DStv Film Talent Celebration short film competition.

South African filmmakers can now enter the DStv Film Talent Celebration short film competition and has until 29 February (yes, 2012 will be one of those again) to enter.

The DStv Film Talent Celebration focuses on the ability of South African filmmakers to tell wonderful authentic stories through very short films. The length of the films has to be between 3 and 10 minutes and is open to South African filmmakers for any genre of film.

Big cash prizes are up for grabs: Best Production (R50 000), Best Director (R40 000), Best Editor (R40 000), Best Sound (R40 000), Best Cinematography (R40 000) and Best Newcommer (R20 000).

The only accepted format for entries are on DVD and all submissions must include a completed entry form. No entry fee is required. For entry forms, rules and regulations and further information, people can phone Hloni Nkhabe at 011 289 3068 or send email to film@multichoice.co.za.

The competition will culminate in a special event during which the winners will be announced and the top short films screened. The filmmakers from DStv's Film Skills Development programme will also be recognised.
