ANALYSIS. Comedy Central's programming for Africa will bring South African viewers very little they haven't yet seen before.


Comedy Central (DStv 122) starting on 6 December at 19:30 (South African time) will bring viewers The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and The Colbert Report from Tuesdays to Fridays, but the bulk of the Comedy Central programming schedule for Africa and South Africa is loaded with shows viewers hav seen before.

Comedy Central has the critically acclaimed The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and The Colbert Report set for Tuesdays to Fridays at 20:30 and 21:00 (with repeats at 00:00 and 00:25).

There is a weekday half hour Comedy Central Presents and a show called Trigger Happy TV as well as specials on Fridays and Saturdays of stand-up acts (Live at Gotham, Brian Regan: Epitome of Hyperbole).

Rounding out the bulk of the schedule however are massive blocks of rebroadcast programming viewers would have had the chance to see before. Comedy Central viewers will get blocks of multiple episodes of shows such as 3rd Rock from the Sun, According to Jim, Gary Unmarried, That 70s Show - even Northern Exposure. Then there's 8 Simple Rules, My Wife and Kids, Hard Times of RJ Berger and Trailer Park Boys.

South Park is indicated as the new 15th season, and new first-run programming within South Africa.
