Programming note: This week on Oprah the boy chained in a closet, producers' favourite memories and Michael Douglas on his cancer.


Today The Oprah Winfrey Show (SABC3, weekdays, 17:30) has Clayton, the 19 year old boy who was chained and kept in a closet as a 6 year old by his father and stepmother. Then The Oprah Winfrey Show couldn't say his name or show his face. Now he's coming forward to talk for the first time in an intense and very emotional hour about being tortured by his own family.

On Tuesday (12 July) Oprah Show producers will be sharing their favourite memories from over the years - from the 276 car giveaway to the flash mob of 20 000 dancers to the 20 000 Favourite Things Oprah gas given away over the years. The producers will be revealing their best-kept secrets behind the scenes of Harpo over all these years.

On Wednesday (13 July) there is the 61 year old surrogate mom who gave birth to her own grandson. Kris (61), a retired mom of three, talks about she came up with the idea to carry her own grandson as a surrogate mother for her daughter Sara, and son-in-law, Bill.

On Thursday (14 July) on Oprah Winfrey talks to Michael Douglas who shares his battle with cancer. He reveals to Oprah that he's cancer free, but that he's not out of the woods yet. She also interviews Nike's founder Phil Knight.

SABC3 isn't able to confirm The Oprah Winfrey Show episode for Friday (15 July) yet. Tapes haven't yet arrived. When there is an update, this synopsis will be updated.
