South African actress Terry Pheto joins The Bold and the Beautiful for a recurring role as the soap gets ready to move from SABC1 to SABC3.
Actress Terry Pheto has joined the cast of the soap The Bold and the Beautiful (SABC1, weekdays, 18:00) in Los Angeles as a South African character in a recurring role for now, the soap's South African publicity agency has announced.
In April I broke the news exclusively RIGHT HERE that The Bold and the Beautiful will be moving from SABC1 to SABC3 from October, and although Terry Pheto will only be seen on screen in South Africa in the soap from June next year, her addition to the cast has been made and influenced by the desire of Bell Phillip Television Production Inc. to cater in some bigger sense to the soap's South African viewers.
When The Bold and the Beautiful moves from SABC1 to SABC3, the soap that's currently a year behind the weekday episodes in America, will be undergoing a reduction-catch up worked out between the SABC and Bell Phillip Television Production Inc.
I've been told that episodes for South Africa will be ''truncated'' without viewers noticing, so that the storyline advances quicker with the deletion of ''unnecessary'' scenes, enabling SABC3 to catch up to where the soap is in America. Once SABC3 has closed the gap between where South Africa is and The Bold and the Beautiful is in America with the help of these more ''digest episodes'', ''normal'' episodes as they are seen in America will resume here.
Terry Pheto currently in Los Angeles will play a South African heart surgeon as a way for the producers to ''engage their South African fan base in a direct manner''.
