Metal Hurlant Chronicles is a new science fiction TV show that's already an international sales success without being sold to America.

Its not Coruscant. Or Trantor. It's Los Angeles in 2312.

It will be in French but will also get an English soundtrack and the new science fiction TV show Metal Hurlant Chronicles just got picked up for broadcast by several European countries for 2012. Let's hope South African viewers get to see this new TV science fiction series (with impressive CGI rendering that looks like the cut scenes in Mass Effect) on a TopTV or DStv channel like Sony Max sometime in the future as well. There will be 12 episodes in the first season.

This ''sci-fi TV series for grown-ups'' as its been described, has already been an international sales success before it's even on the air in France with Sony Pictures Television Networks (SPT) that has acquired the broadcasting rights for Metal Murlant Chronicles for several central European and German-speaking territories including Italy, Poland and Russia and 19 others.

Each of the first 12 half hour episodes will be based on one of the more than 300 published stories of the French graphic novel series of the 1980's. The production budget for each episode of Metal Hurlant Chronicles is a massive R1,97 million. It will be a live-action show and a pilot consisting of two episodes have already been made.

''Metal Hurlant'' is French for ''screaming metal'' and the graphic novel series is famous for its depiction of some hardcore violent scenes and eroticism in a post-apocalyptic futuristic setting (think Blade Runner but as a sexy and dark comic book).
