BREAKING. South Africa's first-ever provincial TV station, Platinum TV making plans to start broadcasting soon in the North West province.


A brand-new provincial TV station - the first ever provincial television broadcaster in South Africa - will start its commercial broadcasting service in the second quarter of this year when Platinum TV starts in the North West province.

Platinum TV that's started by Kopano P. Molefe who is the founder and executive chairperson, envisions Platinum TV ''to encourage the spirit of social dialogue''. Platinum TV will apparently broadcast in all the languages spoken in the province with content that will be 50% ''local'' (meaning North West province based), 30% national (meaning from South Africa) and 20% international.

Platinum TV ''will be developmental in character and provide a platform for communities to express themselves spiritually, culturally, traditionally and politically freely without undue influence or intimidation,'' says the station adding that it will offer ''opportunities to emerging and current scriptwriters, artists, filmmakers, actors, presenters, without discriminating against anyone because of his or her sexual orientation, race or disability, as enshrined in the constitution''.
