I can exclusively break the news that SABC3's primetime line-up will undergo major changes as channel executives are overhauling the broadcaster's schedule with some drastic programming changes that will come into effect from April.
SABC3 will most likely only unveil and confirm all the major changes that involve a massive programming schedule adjustment by the end of the week. TV with Thinus can however reveal that: it's the end for comedies in early primetime on weeknights on SABC3, that Top Billing will move from Thursdays to Tuesdays at 19:30 (its first move in six years), that the morning talk show timeslot moves to the mid-afternoon, that current affairs programming on Tuesdays will move to Wednesdays, dramas will be shifting and that SABC3 is envisioning a new late night movie slot on Thursday nights.
Lets start on Mondays and I can exclusively tell you that SABC3 will be moving its reality slot on Mondays devoted to premiere American reality shows like Survivor and The Amazing Race half an hour earlier from 20:00 to 19:30 from April. Dumped from the SABC3 schedule are the comedies from Mondays to Wednesdays at 19:30 that will get stacked only on Monday nights from 20:30 to 22:00. I already broke the news RIGHT HERE - although not announced officially yet by SABC3 - that the breakfast show Expresso will become longer and extend its broadcasting time on weekdays to 08:00 from April.
The massive programme movement on SABC3 also entails channel execs moving the early morning American talk show timeslot usually devoted to The View and The Tyra Banks Show from 11:00 to the mid-afternoon at 14:30 on weekdays for the 5th season of Tyra. Drama series that used to be on from Mondays to Thursdays at 21:00 will cut a day and only start on Tuesdays (to Thursdays) and move earlier from 21:00 to 20:30 with more international dramas Mondays to Wednesdays at 22:00.
SABC3 will announce that it's moving its current affairs timeslot for show like Special Assignment from Tuesdays at 20:30 to Wednesdays at 21:30. And the broadcaster plans to introduce a brand-new late night movie slot on Thursdays at 22:30. Some new seasons of returning American shows and some new shows include Cashmere Mafia, Life II, The New Adventures of Old Christine V, Californication III, Prison Break IV, 'Til Death IV, CSI V, Lied van die Lappop.
The new local half hour reality show The Big Break about entrepreneurs will start on Wednesdays at 19:30.
