If it's summer, it's reality television season. Season five joint winner of Idols on M-Net Jason Hartman made a surprise appearance this morning at the Durban auditions of the pay broadcaster's reality show taking place today on the third leg of the show's nationwide audition process.

Jason Hartman showed up with the crowd at Durban's Moses Mabhida stadium, and he had some advice: ''Have fun, guys, it's a fun process!'' Then he quickly launched into an impromptu rendition of The Beatles class, ''With a Little Help from my Friends.''

After Cape Town and Polokwane, Durban contestants are getting their chance today to register and do auditions before the producers. A lucky few (good and bad ones) will be called bank on Monday and Tuesday to audition before the Idols judges on the show. Kurt Darren is joining Unathi Msengana, Randall Abrahams and Gareth Cliff as the guest judge for this Durban round.

After Durban only Johannesburg remains as the final stop in this Idols season. The auditions will be taking place in Soweto at the Dobsonville stadium on Saturday 26 March and in Johannesburg at Montecasino on Saturday 2 April.
