BREAKING. CNBC Africa hoping to add ''exciting edge'' to new primetime schedule and attract a broader audience.

The CNBC Africa schedule is changing in primetime (my story RIGHT HERE) and the African business channel now says its being done to bring ''exciting edge'' to its primetime line-up and to hopefully attract a bigger audience.

The business channel's new schedule says goodbye to a few long running shows on CNBC Africa such as Africa's Boardroom, Eureka! and The Real Estate. New shows such as On the Couch (more in my story HERE), Mad Markets, Hot Stoxx, Wealth Quest, Power Talk and Destination Africa will be introduced in March. The speciality technology show Tech@Work will return for a second season.

''With The Tonight Show with Jay Leno there is already a different audience we are appealing to but with the new markets shows we add an exciting edge that we hope will also attract a broader audience,'' says Godfrey Mutizwa, CNBC Africa chief editor.
