The interviews with the 14 candidates shortlisted out of the 84 applications to replace the 4 empty positions on the SABC board is being broadcast on the Parliamentary Service (DStv 408) the channel informs me.
Although not giving a prior schedule warning, the Parliamentary Service did carry the start of the interviews yesterday on the first of the 3 day interview process that's being conducted by parliament's portfolio committee for communications.
The interviews will continue today on day 2, and will also be broadcast on day 3 taking place on Friday. Four new members will replace David Niddrie, Barbara Masekela, Felleng Sekha and Makgatho Mello who all resigned last year after in-fighting between the SABC board and the SABC board chairperson Ben Ngubane.
The portfolio committee for communications will make their recommendation of the 4 new candidates for the 12 member SABC board on Thursday, 3 February to the National Assembly. If the 4 names are approved, its possible that they will take up their positions this quarter already.
