In a vitriolic attack against SABC2's Morning Live, the breakfast show is accused of ''destroying'' news with presenters' personal remarks.
In a scathing attack on SABC2's Morning Live one of the 14 candidates up for one of the 4 vacant SABC board member positions said in parliament that the early morning weekday breakfast show has ''destroyed'' what news is, and launched a vitriolic rant against the Morning Live presenters Leanne Manas and Vuyo Mbuli for infusing the morning gabfest and news with personal remarks.
''Morning Live has totally in my view destroyed my understanding of what news is,'' said Cawekazi Mahlathi, a former chief executive of the shuttered Bop Broadcasting Corporation (Bop-TV), in her answers before parliament's portfolio committee for communications who will be making a recommendation of 4 names to replace the vacant SABC board positions.
She launching a scathing tirade against the co-presenters of South Africa's number one morning breakfast TV show, attacking ''what Leanne Manas and Vuyo Mbuli have done'' with news. ''Quite often in the middle of the discussions they would be saying anecdotes about what's happening in their own personal and private lives and I think that all us would have to agree that the private eNews probably has a better offering as far as news is concerned,'' Cawekazi Mahlathi said.
