BREAKING. MSNBC ends contract of Keith Olbermann, cancels the daily Countdown with Keith Olberman immediately.

The news channel MSNBC (TopTV 410) has abruptly canceled its contract with Keith Olbermann from Countdown with Keith Olbermann (weekdays at 03:00, South African time) who just did his last show.

''MSNBC and Keith Olbermann have ended their contract,'' says MSNBC in a statement. ''MSNBC thanks Keith for his integral role in MSNBC's success and we wish him well in his future endeavors.''

Keith Olbermann had two years left on his contract and he made the shocking announcement on the air. ''This is the last edition of Countdown. It is just under 8 years since I've returned to MSNBC.'' From Monday The Last Word with Lawrence O'Donnell will move to the 03:00 timeslot.
