BREAKING. Isidingo leads as most nominated soap, followed by Rhythm City for the 5th South African Film and Television Awards.

The nominees for the 5th South African Television and Film Awards (Saftas) this year taking place over two weekends from Sunday 20 February, has just been announced with SABC3 soapie Isidingo leading the soap drama category with 10 nominations followed by Rhythm City on e.tv with 6. Shut out is SABC2's 7de Laan which last year won the viewers' vote competition and only got one nomination this year.

The 5th South African Film and Television Awards (Saftas) will take place on 20 February at Melrose Arch at Madame Zingara's Theatre of Dreams first honouring the non-fiction categories, and then on the 27th February the fiction categories.

For TV soaps the nominees are best writing (Generations, Isidingo, Rhythm City), best director (Isidingo, Rhythm City, Generations), best ensemble cast (7de Laan, Rhythm City, Isidingo), best lead actor (Scandal!, Isidingo), best lead actress (Rhythm City, Isidingo, Rhythm City), best TV drama (Erfsondes, Home Affairs, 4PlayThe Mating Game), best director in a TV drama (Erfsondes, One Love, 4Play), best writing for a TV drama (Erfsondes, The Mating Game, Soul City), best talk show (Let's Chat with Mel, Robinson Regstreeks, Dis hoe dit is met Steve), best variety show (Roer, MK Awards 2010, Big Up!), best reality show (Way of the Warrior, Bar One Manhunt, Die Foon), best magazine show (All Access, Top Billing, Ba Kae?), best game show (Noot vir Noot, Friends Like These, What if tonight's your night?), best sports show (Sports Playback, My Beautiful Game, The Miracle of Mzansi).
