BREAKING. A disaster for the Dutch? The Dutch TV channel BVN gone from MultiChoice after 8 years on the pay TV platform.

Another niche TV channel is disappearing from MultiChoice's DStv channel line-up, this time the Dutch channel BVN (DStv 431) that was added to DStv in January 2002.

BVN will disappear at the end of 31 January 2011 from DStv and On Digital Media's (ODM) TopTV doesn't have any plans to add the channel. From February viewers would be able to see BVN, that stands for ''Beste van Vlaanderen en Nederland'', only if they have or are willing to buy a new satellite decoder that can get the Astra4A signal in Southern Africa. DStv and TopTV decoders won't work.

''From 1 February 2011 the contract that BVN had with MultiChoice expires. From this date viewers will no longer be able to watch BVN through MultiChoice,'' says BVN that broadcasts news and general entertainment shows in the Dutch language.
