BREAKING. South African government says there ''not much room for optimism'' about beleaguered state of the SABC.

Now even the South African government has failed in its oversight role of the sinking and beleaguered SABC, saying ''there's not much room for optimism'' about the sad state of affairs at the SABC.

After the atrocious, unprepared and bumbling appearance of the SABC board before parliament on Tuesday, even the parliamentary portfolio committee on communications now seems helpless to give direction to the imploding affairs and top executive management disaster at the South African public broadcaster.

''The committee notes that the financial situation of the SABC remains precarious,'' says the parliamentary portfolio committee on communications, saying that ''in essence the committee is of the view that the SABC board has failed to provide coherent leadership'' and that ''there's not much room for optimism'' about the current deplorable state of collapse at the SABC.
