BBC Worldwide: CBeebies now the 3rd biggest kids channel on DStv in South Africa after having overtaken Nickelodeon and Boomerang.

The BBC Worldwide kids channel CBeebies (DStv 306) is now the third largest kids channel on DStv in South Africa, moving up from 5th to 3rd place, having overtaken Nickelodeon (DStv 305) and Boomerang (DStv 302) the past year.

So says Jon Farrar, vice president of programming for the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region for BBC Worldwide. ''CBeebies is growing at a really fast rate. Twelve months ago we were the 5th most watched kids channel in South Africa on DStv, we're now third, having overtaken Nickelodeon and Boomerang.''

''One thing on which we've carved out our niche is that we provide a safe environment for kids to learn and to be entertained. Some of the key shows on CBeebies that's helped us do that is Mister Maker, Tractor Tom and The Large Family.'' New shows coming up on CBeebies include ZingZillas (pictured), Let's Celebrate and Dirtgirlworld.
