BREAKING. Why M-Net is moving the Idols Results Show from a Monday to a Tuesday for the sixth season.

You're reading it here first.

In last night's debut episode of the sixth season of Idols on M-Net the pay broadcaster officially confirmed what I told you RIGHT HERE in May: that the Idols Results Show which used to be on Mondays will now be moving to Tuesday evenings this season.

Now, I can give you all the information as to why M-Net has decided to make this schedule change and what exactly viewers can expect from the weekly Idols Results Shows once that starts in September. ''Moving the results show to a Tuesday will allow for more time for all valid votes to be delivered and verified, without shortening the voting period,'' M-Net tells me. The official, valid voting period for Idols will still be from 17:30 on a Sunday until a Monday evening and the results will be announced during the live Idols Tuesday evening show, which will be broadcast from 19:00 to 19:30 on M-Net.

I can be first to tell you that this year the Idols Results Shows on a Tuesday will be happening at the Mosaiek Teatro in Northcliff, Johannesburg, since of course first All Access and now SuperSport's new HD studio (which is now staying there permanently) has taken over the studio 6 space at M-Net's studios in Randburg.

I can also reveal that each Idols Results Show on a Tuesday will feature a performance by a guest artist and tickets for these shows will be available to the public. To prevent a recurrence of last year's Idols voting scandal when not all the valid votes were counted in time, M-Net is beefing up the voting system for the sixth season. ''M-Net analysed the reasons for the backlog in detail last year and is putting systems in place to ensure that all valid votes reach us in time, especially for the final during which the volume of votes normally increases substantially,'' the pay broadcaster tells me.
