I can exclusively reveal that another new DStv channel, Idols Extra will debut on DStv channel 199 this Sunday, July 18 at 19:00 after the conclusion of the first episode of the sixth season of Idols on M-Net.
Idols Extra will run for 24 hours a day once it starts on Sunday night and during the course of the channel's seven week run every single audition of this year's Idols will be shown. ''Idols Extra basically gives every single person who auditioned this year the chance to appear on television,'' says a source.
I'm also told that Idols Extra will launch with the Cape Town auditions for the first week, followed by the Durban auditions directly after the second episode of M-Net on Sunday, July 25 and so on. ''Viewers watching Idols Extra on DStv 199 won't just see continuous random auditions,'' a source tells me. ''The producers have beautifully put together all the various auditions in various programs and themes. Viewers will for instance get to see all the Golden Ticket winners together, then the best and the worst auditions from regions and so on to make the viewing experience more focused and enjoyable.''
Idols Extra will run until 5 September when the Idols spectacular live events will start on M-Net (DStv 101).
