I can exclusively reveal first that Idols' audition day in Bloemfontein - the first ever visit of M-Net's reality show to the city - lured 355 contestants. Tomorrow I'll be able to tell you how many made it through to the theatre round.
Contestants from afar away as Kimberley, Johannesburg and Pretoria queued up for the final audition chance on Idols' countrywide audition tour before the show kicks off in July on the pay broadcaster. One of the 355 was Daneel van Wyk (20) who pitched up on the bitterly cold morning and is a third year drama student at the University of the Free State (UFS).

Here is the new Idols co-host ProVerb - who is from Kimberley - with some other Kimberley contestants. ''This year's Idols winner is going to come from Kimberley, man, I'm telling you!'' he said. ProVerb is with twins Dale van der Merwe and Dellithe Gates. ''It was brilliant and unexpected,'' said Dale van der Merwe (27), who traveled to Bloemfontein to audition. ''It made me feel like a rock star – like I'm flying out of a parachute!” said Oagile Mongale (27), in the back who's a big ProVerb fan.
