TopTV has now increased their installer base from 350 to 450 installers countrywide to try and keep up with the deluge of subscriber activations and subsequent TopTV decoder installations that needs to be done.

I hear the company still has a massive backlog to clear and a huge amount of subscribers that it has to get to who is buying the TopTV set top box (STB) for R499. Each of them then gets a free installation done as well as a free satellite dish which is costing On Digital Media (ODM) R420 per installation and is completely subsidized by the company.

The logistical nightmare is for new subscribers who has to call TopTV's customer care number to get the pay TV service activated. The call centre has also been beefed up, I'll find out the latest modus operandi and situation report on the call centre operation tomorrow and post it then.
