MultiChoice on looking at porn: ''no final decision as yet has been made''.
You're reading it here first.
I just got a lightning fast response from MultiChoice on my questions after the news that the satellite TV provider is looking at the possibility of adding pornographic TV channels to the DStv bouquet.
''In the last few months, MultiChoice has been inundated with requests to provide adult content on DStv,'' says Jackie Rakitla, general manager: corporate affairs at MultiChoice. ''At this stage, we are only conducting research to establish the extent of the interest in adult content and the feasibility of introducing such a service.''
I wanted to know why DStv is conducting this research and why DStv wants to introduce pornography as content on the pay platform. ''At this stage, we are only conducting research and no final decision as yet been made,'' says Jackie Rakitla. ''Once we have established the extent of interest and feasibility of such a service, we will make a final decision.''
I asked what DStv foresee the impact on its brand will be, should it introduce this content in future and why this content is looked at now.
''At this stage, we are only conducting research and no final decision as yet been made. Once we have established the extent of interest and feasibility of such a service, we will make a final decision.''
Yes. You might be hearing an echo on that last answer. It seems that MultiChoice might have been, uhm, caught with its pants on the ground.
