Dr. Ben Ngubane the new chairperson of the SABC.

Dr. Ben Ngubane has been appointed as the new chairperson of the SABC board, taking over from Irene Charnley who has served as the chairperson of the interim SABC board.

Ngubane is the former minister of arts, culture, science and technology and former South African ambassador to Japan.

President Jacob Zuma also appointed the members for the SABC board with effect from 10 January, 2010.

They are: Cedric Sabelo Gina, Phillipa "Pippa" Green, Peter John Harris, Barbara Masekela, Magathe Mello, Nkotomane Motsepe, David Niddrie, Claire O'Neil, Suzanne Vos and Desmond Golding.

Felleng Sekha has been appointed as the deputy chairperson of the board.
