The MGM channel on StarSat and DStv now changing and rebranding to AMC in December.
The change and rebranding of the MGM (DStv 140 / StarSat 115) channel to AMC on MultiChoice's DStv and on On Digital Media (ODM) and StarTimes South Africa's StarSat satellite pay-TV platforms has been pushed one month on from this month to December.
AMC Networks International announced the global name-change for its MGM channel in August and said that MGM will rebrand globally in all the different territories before the end of the year.
The MGM to AMC change originally planned for November according to sources who spoke about it in August, has now been pushed a month on.
Once MGM changes to AMC for South African TV viewers, the rebranded and repositioned TV channel will add more movies from Sony and the Paramount film libraries beyond just the MGM movie vault.
AMC Networks International also said it will be adding TV shows to the channel when MGM changes to AMC in the form of dramas like Halt and Catch Fire and the just cancelled The Divide. Up until now MGM has been a movies only channel.
AMC Networks International Zone runs channels on DStv and StarSat like CBS Reality, CBS Drama, CBS Action, JimJam, Extreme Sports Channel and MGM which will now change to AMC.
Asked whether MGM will be changing to AMC on 1 December on StarSat and DStv and what TV series there will be on the rebranded channel and its starting dates, a spokesperson of AMC Networks International Zone tells TV with Thinus that the channel distributor is not quite ready to make the announcement.
