BREAKING. MultiChoice on total loss of SABC channels on DStv: No explanation for blackout but pay-TV platform says sorry.

You're reading it here first.

MultiChoice is now responding to the total loss of SABC TV channels on its DStv satellite pay-TV platform, not giving an explanation of what happened, but apologising and saying sorry.

"MultiChoice can confirm that the feed from the SABC failed this evening. We rerouted the feed and all SABC channels have since been restored. Apologies to our customers for this interruption in their viewing," MultiChoice tells TV with Thinus.

Earlier on Friday evening the the uplink between the SABC and MultiChoice collapsed, leaving millions of South African viewers staring at black TV screens.

The SABC wasn't able to say why, MultiChoice didn't offer any explanations, and confused and angry DStv subscribers got no response or reaction from MultiChoice during the SABC channels' blackout on what is going on.
