Anchor and reporter Zain Verjee is gone at CNN International (DStv 401) - yesterday was her last day after 14 years at the 24-hour TV news channel; she plans to start her own TV company.
"It's been 14 years of friendship, growth, excitement and the greatest privilege anyone could ask for. From Nairobi to Atlanta, to Washington and New York to London and every major capital around the world in between," Zain Verjee wrote to CNN'ers yesterday.
Zain Verjee said that she would "like to start a new chapter in my life, one where I grow in a new direction, and always with enthusiasm and energy. I will be starting my own company www.zainverjeegroup.com. It will be a wonderful new challenge for me, and at a perfect time in my life".
Zain Verjee lifted her on-air presence and reporting last year during the terror attack in Africa in September 2013 during and after the Westgate shopping mall attack in Nairobi.
Zain Verjee, born in Kenya was familiar with the shopping mall and eventually filed stories from there. At the beginning of 2014 she revealed her lifelong struggle with a skin disease.
