NEW LOOK. E! News changes its set and look, now has a cooler toned black and white set with anchors sitting behind a high gloss black desk.

E! News (weekdays, 20:00) on E! Entertainment (DStv 124), the daily entertainment news magazine show, has phased in a new set and look to better fit its new black and orange brand change which happened in America in July and which is coming for South Africa.

Since the E! Entertainment UK feed which is what South African viewers are seeing are still the old red, white and purple on-screen imaging, the new E! News on-air look looks schizophrenically  incongruent and jarringly out of place with the rest of E! Entertainment - as well as the eonline website which also changed in July and sports the new black, white and orange colours.

Gone is the transparent circular perspex desk and red E! News set which was introduced less than two years ago in November 2010.

The new E! News set has a cooler toned and more muted black and white look with chrome or aluminium chairs. Orange and baby blue are mixed in on backwall monitors and flat screens.

Also notice the white walls, the black, slightly curved high gloss table, the new anchors now primarily sitting (behind the desk) for most inserts instead of standing, and the high sheen, black laminated flooring replacing the red.

In terms of styling and the introduction of news segments, the video wall as well as other screens display black and white photography. Colour pictures follow later, or, black and white images are juxtaposed next to colour.
