BREAKING. M-Net spoils some Christmas cheer by dumping Britain's Royal Variety Performance for a fairy.

I can tell you that you don't need to bother wanting to R(S)VP. You just won't be able to. M-Net is spoiling some festive Christmas cheer this year with the jarring decision to dump the popular British variety concert, the Royal Variety Performance (RVP) which it will not be broadcasting this year, instead opting for . . . a fairy. And I'm not kidding.

M-Net isn't stopping the magic, but it is stopping the Royal Variety Performance 2010. Less than an hour ago I was made aware by a source who told me that the pay broadcaster will not be showing the prestigious and well-liked Royal Variety Performance 2010 this year as it did like clockwork with this premium British production for many years. M-Net has decided to produce a Gary the Tooth Fairy TV special filled with local musicians like HHP, Deep Fried Man and the Idols winner Elvis Blue that's set to run on New Year's Eve. Unlike the Royal Variety Performance 2010 that's annually graced by her presence, it's a given that Queen Elizabeth II will not attend.

The new local special is based around the channel's tutu-touting fairy portrayed by Bevan Cullinan - obviously set to attract a whole different audience than the faithful upmarket viewers who've tuned on to the classy Royal Variety Performance over the years on M-Net.
