BREAKING. M-Net confirms that the pay broadcaster is trying to get The X Factor for 2011.

You're reading it here first.

M-Net has officially confirmed to me when I asked, that the pay broadcaster is looking to get the new reality show The X Factor for 2011 but is still negotiating and trying to secure the broadcasting rights to the format for a local South African version of the popular talent search reality show.

''M-Net is possibly doing The X Factor, Pierre Cloete, head of M-Net told me when I asked him.  ''We cannot confirm it at this stage yet but a big channel like M-Net will certainly, and is certainly looking at The X Factor,'' he told me.

So will M-Net have both a new seventh season of Idols as well as The X Factor on at the same time? ''Idols is a fantastic show for us and Idols was rejuvenated this year thanks to in large part a fantastic crew and that is why we're commencing a season seven and we're very excited,'' says Pierre Cloete. ''We believe there's still a lot of undiscovered talent in South Africa.''
