SABC News cameraman Frank Phoshoko (61) dead after a freak fall during filming in Burgersfort.


The SABC's SABC News cameraman Frank Phoshoko (61) has died after a freak fall in the line of work in which he lost consciousness and never recovered.

Frank Phoshoko who joined the South African public broadcaster in 1983 died on Tuesday with a memorial service that was held for him at the SABC on Thursday.

Frank Phoshoko died after he fell during filming in Burgersfort on 13 November and hit his head. He became unconscious.

He was rushed to the Limpopo MediClinic's intensive care unit where he never regained consciousness.

Frank Phoshoko leaves behind his wife Mapula and 3 children.

Former SABC cameraman Mbuyiselo 'Mbuyi' Ramncwana laid to rest in East London, died after a short illness.

The former SABC cameraman Mbuyiselo "Mbuyi" Ramncwana has been laid to rest in East London, the SABC reports.

Mbuyiselo "Mbuyi" Ramncwana worked for 32 years in Johannesburg and in the Eastern Cape until his retirement in May 2012.

Mbuyiselo "Mbuyi" Ramncwana died two weeks ago following a short illness.

He was a veteran journalist who started working for the SABC in 1980 and was among one of the first cameramen on the murder scene of the late Chris Hani.
