Maps will help unlock secrets to mysteries in new Discovery series, Uncharted, with urban explorer Justin Fornal.

Discovery has commissioned a new series for its Science Channel, entitled Uncharted (working title), in which the urban explorer Justin Fornal will use detailed historical maps along with the latest in high-tech imaging to investigate mysteries and unlock secrets that have remained elusive.

Ancient relics, mythical cities and buried treasure - these are all things that maps have been used to find, a tried and true method for locating lost objects, says Discovery.

"With the use of old-school maps and the latest technology, Justin may have found just the right combination of tools to find the answers to mysteries that others before them have come up short in solving," says Marc Etkind, the general manager of the Science Channel.

"Though no one map holds the whole picture of these mysteries, Justin will cross-reference the information held within them to launch new, in-depth investigations."

"Expert researchers and high-tech tools will help locate the mythical outposts detailed in these maps and unravel the mysteries behind their disappearances."

"Among the stories that Justin will attempt to solve are the legend of a treasure ship buried in the middle of a California desert, and the question of whether the Knights Templar secretly brought their treasure to the New World a century before Columbus's voyage to America."

Unchartered is produced by Karga Seven Pictures, a Red Arrow studios company, for Discovery and Science Channel. The executive producers for Karga Seven are Kelly Mcpherson, Sarah Wetherbee, Emre Sahin and Jason Wolf, with Johnny Fountain as co-executive producer.

Discovery commissions 4-episode series, Legends of the Deep, with Fabien and Céline Cousteau exploring sea-related mysteries.

Discovery has commissioned a 4-episode series, Legends of the Deep, from the brother-and-sister team, Fabien and Céline Cousteau in which they will explore sea-related mysteries for the Science Channel that have been shrouded in secrecy.

Using the latest cutting-edge technology along with their diving expertise, Céline and Fabien explore shipwrecks, strange scientific occurrences, and mysterious natural anomalies, all beneath the sea.

"We are thrilled to have Fabien and Céline Cousteau, two of the world's most accomplished underwater adventurers,onboard, reaffirming our commitment to bringing our viewers the best in ocean science and exploration," says Marc Etkind, Science Channel general manager, in a statement.

"From the tropical waters of Bermuda and Belize, to the shores of Cyprus and Nova Scotia, Céline and Fabien Cousteau hunt down and seek answers to the deep blue legends that have left previous investigators without answers."

In Legends of the Deep they launch an investigation in what may have crashed into the cold, remote waters of Shag Harbor, Nova Scotia in 1967, which set in motion one of the biggest search and rescue missions ever attempted on the Eastern seaboard.

In another episode, Céline and Fabien Cousteau look into the June 1980 sinking of the Zenobia, a massive ferry with 151 people onboard. Local legend has it that the boat was sabotaged by spies for smuggling weapons destined for the Middle East.

Though five people have died exploring this wreck, that didn't stop Céline and Fabien and their mission to reveal new evidence.

Céline and Fabien Cousteau also travel to the infamous Bermuda Triangle where there are rumours of a graveyard of lost ships in the deep and dangerous waters beyond Bermuda's outer reef.

They also head to the Blue Hole, a giant marine sinkhole off the coast of Belize where Fabien becomes one of the first explorers to take a submersible to the bottom. And on land, Céline digs into Mayan history for another clue to uncover what this mysterious sea monster could be.

Legends of the Deep is produced by Cineflix, Curve Media Limited and INE Entertainment L.L.C. with Dan Hughes are director and Stephanie Pickering as series producer.
