Mark Stone becomes Sky News' Middle East correspondent; Adam Parsons sent to Brussels.

Mark Stone is being moved from Brussels to the Middle East where he will become Sky News' (DStv 402) new Middle East correspondent, while Adam Parsons is being dispatched to Brussels to replace him.

Mark Stone who has been a news reporter at Sky News since 2007 and been at Sky since 2005 as a producer, has been covering the European Union (EU) for the past four years from Brussels.

Adam Parsons who is a business correspondent at Sky News and joined in 2017, is replacing Mark Stone in Brussels as the British TV news channel's new Europe correspondent.

"So, after 4 extraordinary & fascinating years covering Europe, it’s time to move on. I’ll soon be moving patches to the Middle East," wrote Mark Stone on Twitter. "An interesting time to be there but I’ll miss Brussels hugely. The wonderful Adam Parsons is taking over in België with his Europe adventure ahead!"

Adam Parsons tweeted "In August, I’ll be taking over as Europe Correspondent for Sky News, based in Brussels but covering the whole continent. An exciting, fascinating challenge, reporting on a time of change across Europe. And yes – Brexit too."

Dominic Waghorn, Sky News' United States correspondent in Washington has been appointed as diplomatic editor. Sky News hasn't yet said who is replacing Dominic Waghorn as US correspondent.

Mark Stone, Sky News' Asia correspondent is being moved to Brussels where he will become Sky News' new Europe correspondent. Katie Stallard will replace Mark Stone as Asia correspondent, based in Beijing.

Robert Nisbet who has been Sky News' Europe correspondent has been appointed as political correspondent in the United Kingdom. Sky News says Robert Nisbet will bring his wealth of experience to cover the political scene in the UK.

The Sky News (DStv 402) reporter Mark Stone and cameraman Andy Portch were arrested in China in Tiananmen Square while filming, for apparently not displaying their media press passes clearly enough.

Mark Stone who is currently Sky News' Asia correspondent and Andy Portch were filming live on the air on Sky News when they were approached on Friday morning by a Chinese policeman and ordered to stop filming.

They kept the camera on and kept broadcasting live from the back of the police van as they were taken to a nearby police station.

In a later story filed for Sky News by Mark Stone, he shows how they were simply left for hours in an empty Chinese classroom and says they were arrested for not displaying their press passes visibly enough and for Mark Stone not carrying his passport with him as he is required to do in China.

Mark Stone has been reporting from Tiananmen Square on China's leadership transition in the pollution filled Beijing when suddenly ordered to stop.

According to Sky News, Mark Stone and Andy Portch had received permission to film in Tiananmen Square.
