ANN7 adds its first law discussion panel show, Law, My Anchor with regional court magistrate Melisa Jordaan, on Tuesdays at 4:30pm.

The South African TV news channel ANN7 (DStv 405) is launching its own law panel discussion show, Law, My Anchor with regional court magistrate Melisa Jordaan that will start on Tuesday 16 August at 16:30.

The Gupta-news gavel show is ANN7's first foray into the TV legal eagle genre and will compete with eNCA's (DStv 403) long-running Judge for Yourself with judge Dennis Davis, and SABC News' (DStv 404) Rights & Recourse with Dumile Mateza.

Melisa Jordaan, a legal expert with over 19 years of experience and a LLM degree, is the first magistrate from the Eastern Cape to preside in the Equality Court.

According to ANN7, Law, My Anchor is to "entrench the understanding of basic human rights as enshrined in the Constitution of South Africa". The show will be different from Judge for Yourself and Rights & Recourse in that it will have a studio audience besides panelists.

"Many citizens do not challenge unjustices because of lack of information or support to exercise their constitutional rights. Law, My Anchor, will equip citizens through educational discussions to become better informed citizens to improve and restore their dignity," says ANN7.

Each week Melisa Jordaan will be joined by a panel of experts as well as a studio audience to discuss the laws of South Africa. Law, My Anchor will have premiere episodes on Tuesday, repeated on Wednesdays at 11:30 and Thursdays at 20:30.

Judge for Yourself with judge Dennis Davis is returning to eNCA (DStv 403) for a new season of 13 episodes on Sunday, 30 March at 18:30.

Judge Dennis Davis is a high court judge and remains the presenter for the 12th season of the current affairs show which discuss and critically analyses political and socio-economic issues in South Africa.

The first half of the new season of Judge for Yourself will see various political parties in South Africa defend their election manifestos and ask them how they plan to realise the constitutional rights of South Africans.
