Sony Entertainment Television grabs Sony Pictures Television dramas Drop Dead Diva and Cashmere Mafia.

Sony Pictures Television International is bringing both the female-centric TV drama series Drop Dead Diva and Cashmere Mafia to Sony Entertainment Television (DStv 127).

Drop Dead Diva will be starting from the first season on SET on Monday 27 May at 20:50 and Cashmere Mafia will be starting on Monday 3 June at 20:00 on SET.

South African viewers already saw Drop Dead Diva on M-Net Series (DStv 114) which is an ongoing show after it was cancelled in January after four seasons but has been resurrected in March for another new fifth season. Cashmere Mafia's first and only season was shown twice previously on SABC3.

Drop Dead Diva is produced by Sony Pictures Television and Cashmere Mafia was also produced by Sony Pictures Television.

Drop Dead Diva was produced by Sony Pictures Television and although the viewership remained good enough, became too expensive to continue for the American TV channel Lifetime.

Now there's real-life imitating art, for the show which is coming back from the dead similar to the story of the dead aspiring model coming back to life, trapped in the body of an intelligent, larger-bodied lawyer played by Brooke Elliott.

Drop Dead Diva is being revived for a 5th season after Sony Pictures Television reworked the cost structure for the show in a deal with Lifetime.

Deadline first broke the news about the cancellation of Drop Dead Diva which has already ended its fourth season and will end without a proper conclusion for the story of that dead aspiring model trapped in the body of an intelligent, larger-bodied lawyer played by Brooke Elliott.

Drop Dead Diva's viewership was strong. Whether Sony Pictures Television will be able to shop Drop Dead Diva to another TV channel and in that way continue the show for another season remains to be seen.
