New Prime Directive Star Trek podcast created by CBS Television Studios and its Star Trek Global Franchise group to debut in late-2019.

CBS Television Studios and its new Star Trek Global Franchise group will start a new official Prime Directive podcast in late-2019 with Tawny Newsome as co-presenter.

Prime Directive will be the new "official" Star Trek podcast.  Comedian Tawny Newsome will also voice an animation character, Ensign Beckett Mariner, in the upcoming new Star Trek: Lower Decks animation series. Her co-presenter will be announced later.

The Prime Directive podcast will "take a smart, witty and thoughtful look at all things Trek - both old and new," CBS Television Studios says in a press release.

"Offering a high-level discussion of the themes, ideas and characters that resonate across the history of the franchise's storied universe, episodes will also explore the brand's 50-plus year legacy and influence in an accessible and inclusive way for dedicated and casual Star Trek fans alike."

Fans will be able to subscribe or download Prime Directive: The Official Star Trek Podcast on startrek.com as well as Apple Podcasts, Google Play Music, or other podcasting apps.

"Star Trek has always been a touchstone for a larger cultural conversation," says Veronica Hart, executive vice president for Star Trek Global Franchise management, in a statement.

"Prime Directive will continue that legacy by being a launching point for wider discussions of social issues, literature, music, philosophy, popular culture, space exploration, the environment and other topics that spring out of this vast universe."

Each episode will feature an in-depth personal interview with a notable guest, coverage of a Star Trek event, or a discussion of a specific topic with one or more guests. Listeners will also be able to hear updates about new projects.

Guests will include the cast and creative teams behind upcoming, current and legacy projects, as well as noted writers, performers, critics, scientists, musicians, historians and scholars - all offering fresh perspectives as the franchise continues to expand with a range of new projects.

The podcast will be produced by Gideon Brower.

CBS hopes that Prime Directive will fare better than the laughably atrocious After Trek aftershow that was created with the shockingly-bad presenter Matt Mira to cover the awful Star Trek: Discovery on Netflix. The troubled After Trek was cancelled after the first season.

XOXO, WarnerMedia gives a straight-to-series reboot order for its former teen drama series, Gossip Girl, for its HBO Max video streaming service.

Eight years after the teen drama series Gossip Girl ended WarnerMedia has given a straight-to-series reboot order for 10 hourlong episodes of the series.

In the series, once again based on the book by Cecily von Ziegesar, a new generation of fabulously wealthy New York private school teenagers will be subjected to the all-seeing, all-knowing "Gossip Girl" who gossips about all their scandals

The new Gossip Girl will be executive produced by Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage of Fake Empire as well as Leslie Morgenstein and Gina Girolamo of Alloy Entertainment.

WarnerMedia in a press release announcing the direct-to-series pick-up, says "The prestige series will address just how much social media - and the landscape of New York itself - has changed in the intervening years".

The Gossip Girl reboot will be produced by Fake Empire and Alloy Entertainment in association with Warner Bros. Television and CBS Television Studios.

Gossip Girl that ran for 6 seasons and that starred Blake Lively, Leighton Meester, Penn Badgley, Chace Crawford and Ed Westwick was previously broadcast in South Africa on M-Net's VUZU on MultiChoice's DStv satellite pay-TV service, and later on the South African public broadcaster's SABC3 channel.

Elementary cancelled after 7 seasons, will end in 2019 with a final 13 episodes as Holmes and Watson return to New York.

The drama series Elementary with Jonny Lee Miller and Lucy Liu has been cancelled with the upcoming 7th season in 2019 that will be its last.

The 7th season of the show produced by CBS Television Studios wrapped production on Friday last week and will have 13 episodes to wrap up the series.

Elementary has been seen in South Africa and across Africa initially on M-Net and then moved to M-Net City (DStv 115).

"A lot of parties came together and talked about their positions on the show — both in terms of business and in terms of creative — and we all decided that this was an opportune time to say goodbye to a show that has been very, very good to us," says Kelly Kahl, CBS Entertainment president.

The 6th season of Elementary ended with Holmes and Watson moving from New York to London and Sherlock Holmes' iconic 221B Baker Street address to work with Scotland Yard, but they will return to New York in the 7th season.

Elementary producer Robert Hewitt Wolfe on Twitter in a statement said "Once again, just wanted to say what an incredible honor it was to work on this show".
