Programming note: 82nd Annual Academy Awards tonight on M-Net.

A reminder for South African TV viewers that you can catch the 82nd Annual Academy Awards on M-Net tonight from 19:30 until 22:30.
This year's Oscar ceremony with hosts Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin will also be screened in high definition (HD) on M-Net HD (DStv 170), also from 19:30 until 22:30.

UPDATE 8 March 13:20 - M-Net will rebroadcast the 82nd Annual Academy Awards tomorrow/ Tuesday 9 March at 09:00 as well as on M-Net Movies (DStv 103).

The people at the Academy Awards just told me that Miley Cyrus, Zac Efron, Taylor Lautner and Kristen Stewart has joined the Oscars.

Miley Cyrus known for Hannah Montana, Zac Efron from High School Musical fame and Taylor Lautner and Kristen Stewart from Twilight will all be presenters at The 82nd Annual Academy Awards.

All four bring a youtful injection to the award show that South African viewers will be able to watch live on M-Net Movies (DStv 103) on Monday morning, 8 March at 03:00, and again Monday evening, 8 March on M-Net at 19:30, broadcast as a delayed live show.

BREAKING. Set and design secrets of 82nd Annual Academy Awards revealed.

David Rockwell who designed The Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles and also did the breathtaking set design for the 81st Annual Academy Awards last year, is doing the set design again this year. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences just revealed some 2010 Oscars set design secrets.

Well, the curtain will be back! Production designer David Rockwell is bringing back the dazzling element - but with ''new and unexpected features for an even greater theatrical effect''. ''The overall design is intended to evoke a classic but modern glamour, with white, platinum, topaz and smoky bronze hues.'' There will also be three, circular revolving platforms that work in combination with rotating TV panels.

As I've told you RIGHT HERE first this year's Oscars will be shown LIVE on the M-Met Movies 1 channel at 03:00 on Monday, 8 March and from 19:30 on M-Net later the same day.

BREAKING. SA movie White Wedding entered for 2010's Oscar race

You're reading it here first. The local movie White Wedding is South Africa's official entry for an Academy Award next year in the category for best Foreign Language film.

If the Oscar selection committee approves it, White Wedding that did very well at the box office earlier this year since it was released in April, will compete at the 82nd Annual Academy Awards in Hollywood as a great feel-good film in this category.

The National Film and Video Foundation (NFVF) is officially recognized by the Academy of Motion Pictures, Arts and Sciences as the body to represent South Africa and makes the submission on behalf of the South African film industry.

''We are very excited that a very deserving film has been selected to represent South Africa. The performance of the film has shown that this is a film that will resonate with audiences around the world'' says Eddie Mbalo, CEO of the NFVF and chairperson of the SA Academy Awards Selection Committee.
