A third season of Netflix Africa's reality show mixing crass conspicuous consumption with conflict, Young, Famous & Africanwill be released on the streaming service on 17 January - but without Bonang Matheba who joined last season.

According to a press release from Netflix South Africa's PR agency, newly-added participants in the third season include Kefilwe Mabote (South African influencer), Ini Edo (Nigerian star) and entrepreneur Shakib Lutaaya (entrepreneur).

These three join the returning participants Zari Hassan, Swanky Jerry, Annie Macaulay-Idibia, Diamond Platnumz, Naked DJ, Kayleigh Schwark, Fantana, Luis Munana, Nadia Nakai and Khanyi Mbau for a third season that has 8 episodes.

South Africa's Bonang Matheba is not part of the third season of Netflix's Young, Famous & African and no reason for her exit has been given.

"Eight episodes pull back the curtains on fractured marriages, fragile friendships and fresh connections. It all ends in premium tears," states Netflix SA.

Young, Famous & African produced by Urban Brew Studios and Apop Media was created by Peace Hyde and Martin Asare Amankwa, with Adelaide Joshua-Hill, Martin Asare-Amankwa and Peace Hyde as executive producers, and Jwalane Letaba as showrunner.

Wesley Makgamatha is the director.
