The former TV quiz show presenter and radio presenter Edwill van Aarde has died after hospitalisation. He was 85.
As a famous Afrikaans sports commentator, Edwill van Aarde is most well-known as the TV presenter of the SABC's Afrikaans quiz show Flinkdink of which he was also the researcher.
Edwill van Aarde also holds the record as the presenter and commentator with the longest uninterrupted service at a South African broadcaster - 50 years.
Edwill van Aarde was born on 20 December 1938 in Kimberley and presented numerous programmes on the SABC's Afrikaans radio station.
According to his daughter, he was hospitalised on 22 December and died on Wednesday evening. He leaves behind his wife Piena, children Cobus and Antoinette and six grandchildren.
