On Monday night Disney released an official trailer for its upcoming limited Star Wars drama series, The Book of Boba Fett, that will become available on its Disney+ video streaming service on 29 December.
The Book of Boba Fett functions as a limited series spinoff of The Mandalorian, coming to Disney+ as some banta fodder before the third season of The Mandalorian in 2022.
Disney+ will launch in South Africa around June 2022 as the only African country getting access to the streamer.
Disney+ already has high brand awareness under the country's viewers who have watching Disney+ content like The Mandalorian using illegal means like torrent sites, and have been buying merchandise of Disney+ programming in South African retail stores.
The Book of Boba Fett is executive produced by Dave Filoni, Robert Rodriguez, Kathleen Kennedy, and Colin Wilson.
The Book of Boba Fett was first announced and unveiled in the post-credits scene at the end of The Mandalorian's second season, where the bounty hunter played by Temuera Morrison was seen taking over Jabba the Hutt's throne in his palace on Tatooine together with the mercenary and assassin-for-hire Fennec Shand (Ming-Na Wen).
In the new official trailer Boba Fett says "Jabba ruled with fear. I intend to rule with respect" as he gets ready to become the new crime lord Godfather-style on the notorious dust planet known as a wretched hive of scum and villainy.
Fennec Shand tells a group of syndicate criminals that "If you had spoken such insolence to Jabba, he'd have fed you to his menagerie".
