CORONAVIRUS. The SABC News journalist Moabi Litheko (58) has died from Covid-19.

The veteran SABC News journalist Moabi Litheko has died from Covid-19 following a massive surge in infections of the Delta-variant of the coronavirus in South Africa as part of the latest third wave in the country. He was 58.

The SABC on Wednesday announced that Moabi Litheko, a bulletin writer for the SABC News Sesotho TV news bulletin, has died.

The SABC Sports reporter and former Motsweding FM presenter was admitted to the Flora Clinic to receive treatment for Covid-19 complications.

Phathiswa Magopeni, the head of SABC News, said that the South African public broadcaster's prayers are with his family, friends and colleagues.

Moabi Litheko was also a former spokesperson for Cricket South Africa before he joined the SABC in early-2006.
