A year after the cash-strapped SABC cancelled Trending SA on SABC3 and finally released the presenters from their contracts the show is being revived with a new set of talkers from Monday 3 August at 18:00.

The studio-based talk show that was cancelled in 2019 is being remodelled and has been moved from late-night to an early primetime slot

The weekday show will still have the studio presenters talk about what is "trending" on social media and has replaced the previous presenters of Kuli Roberts, Nina Hastie and Musa Mthombeni with the radio personality and musician Mablerh, the sports presenter Elma Smit, and the radio and TV anchor Refiloe Mpakanyane.

Trending SA was cancelled in 2019 along with several other locally-produced shows that were scrapped and put on hold when the SABC went through a severe cash-crunch and could no longer pay local production companies.

SABC3 says that the revived Trending SA will see the panellists do "introspective debate sure to spark and inspire South Africa to join in on the conversation".

"Trending SA will also invite thought leaders and experts from different industries for insightful and impactful interviews."

"Fridays kicks off the weekend with all things sports, a little bit of play, and a supersized round table discussion with influencers analysing and weighing in on top stories of the week."
