MultiChoice Kenya is hiking DStv subscription fees in the East African country by 14% from 1 September 2020, citing increased operational costs.
DStv Kenya told subscribers in the country that they will be paying more from September. According to MultiChoice Kenya the price hike is "necessitated by the escalating costs to sustain the business in order to continue delivering unbeatable content, innovative technology and excellent customer services in Kenya".
DStv Premium subscribers in Kenya will see their monthly subscription fee get hiked from Sh7 370 (R1172) to Sh7 800 (R1240), an increase of 5.8%.
DStv Compact Plus subscribers who are now paying Sh4 420 will pay Sh 4 700 (R747) from September - 6.6% more.
MultiChoice Kenya told DStv Compact subscribers who are now paying Sh2 455 that they will be paying Sh2 600 (R413) from September - 5.9% more.
DStv Family subscribers in Kenya will see their Sh1 180 subscription fee increase to Sh1 350 - a 14% increase for DStv subscribers on this lower-tiered package.
DStv Access subscribers in Kenya will see their subscription increase from Sh885 to Sh900 - a 1.6% increase.
