SABC giving 25%-bonus advertising airtime to qualifying black, small ad agencies as part of Competition Commission ruling.

From 1 July 2019 to 31 March 2020 the SABC is giving qualifying small ad agencies 25%-bonus advertising airtime as part of the Competition Tribunal's order of February 2019.

The South African public broadcaster will give 25% bonus advertising airtime for every rand of airtime bought by all qualifying small agencies who meet the criteria for broad-based black economic empowerment (BBBEE).

The SABC is now looking for these small qualifying agencies to apply for their 25%-bonus airtime and to make contact with Thabile Dlamini at the SABC's Auckland Park headquarters.

The closing date for applications is 24 June 2019 at 12:00 and proposals should include recently audited financial statements, BEE rating certificates and proof of corporate social investment (CSI) involvement. Qualifying small ad agencies should have been in existence for three years or more.

The SABC says bonus airtime will be applied to bookings over the qualifying period and scheduled at the discretion of the SABC.
