Hello all you lonely weather girls (and boys)! The SABC is hiring and looking for freelance weather presenters from Afrikaans to Zulu in all 11 languages for its TV news bulletins.

We are your weather girls, and have we got news for you: For the first time in history the SABC is hiring and looking for freelance weather presenters for its TV news bulletins from Afrikaans to Zulu - in all 11 of South Africa's official languages.

Although struggling financially and having started a process of retrenchment that was halted, the SABC is now looking for freelance weather presenters who can speak Xitsonga, IsiZulu, IsiXhosa, IsiNdebele, Setswana, Sepedi, Sesotho, Tshivenda, Siswati, English and Afrikaans to present weather forecasts live as part of its various TV news bulletins.

The SABC is looking for weather presenters to interpret weather maps and give weather forecasts to viewers, alert and warn viewers about severe weather conditions, present weather reports live, and to do live interviews about the weather with fellow presenters.

People who want to apply must have an undergraduate qualification in journalism, media studies or a related field and a degree in meteorology or geography will be an added advantage. Of course, people who apply must have a good command of the language, and good TV presenting skills, as well as a good general knowledge of weather conditions and patterns.

All you lonely girls and boys who are interested can send CVs to the SABC's human resources manager for news at newsjobs@sabc.co.za before the closing date of 18 June 2019, and don't leave those umbrellas at home.
