The SABC now wants answers from the public broadcaster's head of TV, Nomsa Philiso, about several allegations of misconduct made against her.
After getting rid of the SABC's former COO, Chris Maroleng, the SABC is now going after the SABC's head of TV, Nomsa Philiso, with the SABC CEO, Madoda Mxakwe, who asked her in a letter to answer to several allegations of misconduct made against her.
Nomsa Philiso who acted as SABC CEO when the South African public broadcaster had none, allegedly misled the SABC board at the time and wanted to approve a contract between the broadcaster and Creative Sparks to do work on the SABC's website.
According to Sunday reports, Madoda Mxakwe wants Nomsa Philiso to explain why disciplinary action shouldn't be taken against her.
Madoda Mxakwe accuses Nomsa Philiso of having failed to tell the SABC board that National Treasury had dismissed her request for a deviation and also told her and the SABC to consider using a closed tender to finish the SABC News website work.
"Your conduct as indicated above may have contravened the National Treasury's directive/instruction issued on 23 August 2017," the letter states in part, asking her to explain in writing "why disciplinary action shouldn't be instituted against you in light of the above cited serious misconduct".
The SABC in a statement said that "The SABC does not discuss matters relating to its employees and is therefore not in a position to respond to the questions posed".
The SABC fired Chris Maroleng on 23 April, with the IT-specialist, Craig van Rooyen who joined the broadcaster in November 2018 as the head of media, technology, infrastructure and enterprise broadcast architecture who has been appointed as acting SABC COO.
