SABC staffer in Mpumalanga resigns with immediate effect and leaves after thousands of rand go missing - report.

An SABC staffer has left with immediate effect, resigning after thousands of rands went missing at the South African public broadcaster's Mpumalanga regional office.

Mpumalanga News reports that over R12 000 of the SABC's money was allegedly stolen from petty cash in December.

On 31 December 2018 the SABC discovered a shortfall of R12 298. The woman working in the finance department allegedly told a colleague that she stole R3 000 before she went on leave.

The Mpumalanga News quotes sources saying that the finance manager emailed the woman asking what happened to the money, and that she resigned and left.
